Figure 3

β-adrenoceptor antagonists induce PanCa cell death. The morphological features of cell death (necrosis and/or apoptosis) were analyzed by using TEM (A [a-d]×5000). MIA PaCa-2 and BxPC-3 cell induced cell death by ICI118,551 (100 μM) was further confirmed by Hoechst 33342 fluorescent staining (A [e-h]×400), BxPC-3 cells were more sensitive to apoptosis induction than MIA PaCa-2 cells (P < 0.05). The apoptotic MIA PaCa-2 and BxPC-3 cells were detected by flow cytometry (B). MIA PaCa-2 and BxPC-3 cells were treated with β-adrenoceptor antagonists (100 μM). Exposure to the β2-adrenergic antagonist ICI118,551 significantly increased cell apoptosis compared to the metoprolol group (P < 0.05), BxPC-3 cells were more sensitive to apoptosis induction than MIA PaCa-2 cells(P < 0.05) (B). *P < 0.05 when compared with controls.
