Spleen pathology of mice inoculated with SiHa CDV versus SiHa parental . Tissues were fixed in neutral buffered formalin, subsequently embedded in paraffin and 5 μm sections were hematoxylin-eosin (H & E) stained and microscopically examined. Representative H&E stained tissue sections of spleens from tumor-free (A), and mice bearing SiHa parental (B) or SiHa CDV (C) xenografts, five weeks after inoculation of the cells (2.5x magnification). Splenomegaly caused by SiHa parental tumors was associated with severe changes in the relative size of the red and white pulp with an expanded red pulp, only sparse spots of white pulp and virtually no marginal zones remaining. In animals inoculated with SiHa CDV , no major alterations in the morphology of the spleen were noted.
