Cells were seeded in six well plates and treated for 6 or 24 hours with increasing concentrations of sodium ascorbate. For each bar group, the concentration was: 0 mM (control), 0.5 mM, 1 mM, 2 mM, 3 mM. Cells were then processed and stained with propidium iodide as described in "Materials and Methods". The percent of cells in the sub-G1 phase of the cell cycle were considered apoptotic. The data are the mean ± S.D. from three independent experiments.Back to article page
