The strong induction of apoptosis in both estrogen-receptor negative and estrogen receptor-alpha-positive breast cancer cells. FACS analysis (A) of the cell cycles and apoptosis in estrogen-receptor negative cell line MDA-MB-231 and estrogen receptor-alpha-positive breast cancer cell line MCF-7 as well as normal human mammary epithelial cell line MCF-10A after the cells were treated for 48 h with BER at the indicated concentrations. The percent apoptosis(cells in subG1 phase) in the cells treated by BER are summarized in (B).
