Overexpression of miR-30a and miR-934 induces the expression of cancer stem cell genes and increases cellular proliferation in HNSCC cell lines. (a) Transient transfection of miRNA expression plasmids is able to overexpress both miRNAs in the two HNSCC cell lines UMSCC-10B and UMSCC-22B. (b) Overexpression of miR-30a and miR-934 resulted in the increased expression of anti-apoptotic gene BCL-2. Enforced expression of both miR-30a and miR-934 promotes increased significantly cellular proliferation in HNSCC cell lines as demonstrated by (c) Alamar blue assays and (d) MTS assays. Double transfections were performed for the 5-day experiments. All data is presented as the mean and error bars represent standard deviation. *p<0.05, **p<0.01, ***p<0.001, Student’s t-test
