miRNAs function at multiple steps of breast cancer brain metastasis (BCBM). MiRNAs regulate key steps of BCBM, (a) breast cancer cell intravasation and dissemination via EMT from the primary site, (b) survival in the circulation/vascular microenvironment, (c) breaching of blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity, (d) extravasation into brain parenchyma, (e) metabolic reprogramming into the brain microenvironment, and (f) colonization and growth of cancer cells into brain
