Schematic representation of lipid metabolism implicated in cancer metastasis. Cancer cells fine-tune the anabolic/catabolic balance to meet the increasing metabolic requirements and lead to aggressive progression. In addition, lipid raft within cell membrane provides the platform to mediate lipid signaling contributing to metastasis. During the progress of metastasis, cancer cells can couple lipid metabolism with supporting host cells in the microenvironment to benefit their distant metastasis.
