Cap-independent translation of circRNAs in eukaryotic cell. The circRNA can be divided into three different types: exonic (EcRNA), intronic (CiRNA) and exon-intron (EIcRNA) . CiRNAs and EIcRNAs are likely sequestered in the nucleus, while EcRNAs are mostly exported into cytoplasm. Internal Ribosome Entry site (IRES)- and N6-methyladenosines (m6A)-mediated cap-independent translation initiation are potential mechanisms for circRNA translation.
